Weekend of Baseball

We lost 2 this weekend and won 1, moving our record to 9-10 on the year. We had a 2 hour delay due to weather and wet fields in the morning at The Sandlot. We lost our first game 15-6, won the 2nd game 18-2, and lost the last game 10-1. We play Tuesday night at Joplin for our makeup rain date from a couple of weeks ago. We then have this weekend off and pick back up the next weekend. The May/June league starts next week. Will have dates and times soon. Thanks.

2nd place at Republic!!

We got 2nd place in a 12 and under tournament this weekend at Republic. We ended up going 2-2, but our 2 loses were to a really good Mt. Grove team that had quite a few really good 12 year olds. I missed most of the day due to my High School JV tournament here at Purdy. So if anyone would like to comment on the day and on some high lights of the day, go ahead. We play Wed. night at Joplin. We just found out that the tournament this weekend has been canceled. No make up date. We play Tuesday at joplin in the league games. Tournament next weekend at republic.

Shock Splits Again!!!

We won 1 and lost 1 last night at Joplin. We played the NEO Warriors and lost 5-2 in the first game. They scored 4 runs in the 1st and we couldn't get the big hit or the key RBI. Joby came in and pitched 1+ innings in relief and pitched extremely well to keep the game close to give our bats a chance. We won the 2nd game 11-3. Hunter struggled some in the 1st inning but settled down and got 3 straight outs in the 2nd and Adam finished it off. We hit the ball and played better defense in the 2nd game, leading us to a win. We turned a unconventional double play last night. After recording the out at 1st, the runner at 3rd tried to score and Mason through it home and Colt got the runner in a run down. I believe everyone on the field was involved in the run down and we recorded the out to get out of the inning. Great job boys!!!! Don't forget practice tonight at 8 on the High School Baseball Field and games this Saturday in Miller at the Sandlot at 10AM, 12PM, and 4PM. Go Shock!!!!

Record is now 3-5!!

We went 1-1 last night at Joplin. We got beat 10-8 in the first game and won 10-5 in the second game. We had our chances in the 1st game, but came up a little short. Colt, Kyler, and Mason all pitched well. In the 2nd game, Jose pitched 3 great innings to keep us in the game until our bats could take off. We scored 7 runs in the last inning and then Tyler held them in the bottom of the inning to get the team a win. We are improving every night out. I know last night I didn't have to yell to much about lead offs at 3rd like I have been doing for 2 years now. The boys are hitting well. GO ORANGE!!!!!!

Good Weekend of Baseball

We finally got out and played some Shock Baseball. On Friday night, our league games, we lost the first game 11-0. We looked rusty and could tell it was our first night out. The second game we came around and played like we can. We ended up losing 5-4 in 2 extra innings, but was very proud of the boys. On Saturday was our 1st tournament. We played the SW Wolfpack and lost 5-3. This is the same team that beat us twice last year really bad. So we competed at a high level against them. We turned around and beat the Thunder 10-0. Going into Sunday single elimination, we got the 3 seed and played the Thunder again. We won 11-9 and moved on to play the wolfpack again. They beat us 5-4. In our 1st win of the year, Bill pitched a 1 hitter and earned the 1st win of the Spring. Adam picked up the other win of the weekend. Tyler earned the save. The first hit of the Spring goes to Hunter on a double over the left fielders head in our first game Friday. 9 of the 12 boys got to pitch this weekend and the other 3 will pitch on Wednesday in our next league games. Looking forward to seeing you all at Joplin on Wednesday, 6PM start time.

I probably should help some of us. I wouldn't know how to do this if it wasn't for the 5 years of experience on my High School Blog. You can comment below each blog I put. I think this will add to the experience for all of us if we have something to look forward to. However, remember that the boys do see this site and others are open to view it. Shock Baseball

I have done a blog for my high school team now for 4 or 5 years. This is something that I can do to keep parents informed of changes. I probably will not update this as much as my high school one at this time. If you have pictures or something you would like put on here, let me know and I can post it. Any suggestions, I am open too.
